This position supports the Employee Benefits Producer in the Birmingham, AL area. Support will include all aspects of account sales, marketing, and service.ย  An acute understanding of the entire sales and service process, especially as it pertains to retaining clients, is required for this position.ย  Market knowledge, presentation skills, and good business ethics are also required, as the Account Manager will assist in advising client on the best product for their company and employees. Must meet sales, service, and quality standards of the agency.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the marketing process for prospects and clients which includes obtaining client census and quotes from carriers along with creating proposals and presentation materials
  • Prepare materials for client meetings including but not limited to agendas, reports, calendars
  • Responsible for acting as a liaison between clients and insurance carriers or other vendors. Provide resolution support for claim and billing issues for clients
  • Monthly invoicing of all employee benefit commissions for all EB Producers and House Accounts- reconciling with accounting department to ensure balancing and 100% reconciliation
  • Responsible for preparing and managing all paperwork related to new and renewal submissions and delivering timely to the insurance carrier. Following up with the carrier to ensure paperwork is being processed. Ensuring the clients receive all the materials they require, such as employee ID cards
  • Enter and manage client information using the Fisher Brown Bottrell agency management system
  • Check or determine correct rates and premiums for requested coverage on new accounts and renewal accounts
  • Work with producers on information necessary for coverage necessary for coverage desired. Make sure all submissions including applications are complete, accurate and meet company requirements
  • Receive phone calls from clients and companies and comply with the request and/or refer to the producers
  • Assist producer in enrolling new groups
  • Provide technical support to producer(s) benefit clients and to reach agencyโ€™s business goals. Provide underwriting and placement expertise on accounts
  • Stay informed as to market availability, competitive markets used by others, and continuously expand knowledge of markets. Keep updated suspense, expiration lists, and maintain electronic and paper files
  • Marketing: develop client proposals from inception to completion.ย  Implement new account sales from enrollment to carrier submission.ย ย  Prepare all enrollment and complete process until approved and implemented with the carrier which includes reconciliation of all employee coverages
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 1 year experience in employee benefits industry
  • Minimum of five yearsโ€™ experience in similar position in agency environment or insurance agency
  • 1 year experience in human resources preferred
  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Must have general knowledge of employee benefits and/or customer service
  • Must be able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
  • Must be efficient in prioritizing work and manage multiple tasks in fast-paced environment
  • Enthusiastic attitude, adaptability to new or changing circumstances and comfort working in a team environment
  • Must possess Life and Health license in all applicable States or Regions or be able to obtain license within 90 days of placement in position
  • Should have thorough understanding of financial services underwriting coverage, and Health Lines
  • Knowledge of account management software helpful but not required
  • Must be a self-starter, imaginative and creative with good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to communicate orally, and in writing with others to explain complex issues, receive and interpret complex information and respond accordingly
  • Should have thorough understanding of benefits offerings and underwriting requirements
  • Knowledge of the law and adherence as it pertains to government requirements.
  • Capable in making group presentations and communicating policies and benefits
  • Capable and knowledgeable in managing Excel spreadsheets to include formula functions & presentation spreadsheets
  • Capable and knowledgeable in PowerPoint and Word files and developing presentations and client communication
