Overview

Under general supervision, installs, tests and maintains data network connections.

 

Additional Skills Qualifications below for Level II/III/IV Network Engineer.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that network connections are online and active
  • Troubleshoots and resolves data network communication problems
  • Maintains current and accurate documents of existing and future network infrastructure
  • May Coordinate work and performance of subcontractors to ensure compliance with work orders
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Technical or vocational school or equivalent experienceBasic knowledge of network protocols, routers, and switches 
  • Ability to use network troubleshooting tools and software
  • Ability to communicate with network providers, PC hardware personnel and communications equipment vendors

Preferred:

  • 1-2 years of network experience in an enterprise environment

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screens. Deploy/cable network equipment in branches/datacenters. Must be able to lift 65 pounds and work with various hand tools. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which will include nights and weekends on occasion. Must be willing to travel 25% of the time.

 

 

Network Engineer II

 

Position Summary: Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs operating systems and software configuration and programming of all network infrastructure devices.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that network connections are online and active
  • Assists in design and implementation of network projects
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues within the LAN, WAN, and wireless environments
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Technical or vocational school or equivalent
  • Broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems
  • Knowledge of network protocols, such as EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF
  • Ability to trouble shoot difficult network problems using available tools and software
  • Ability to communicate to network associates on how to solve problems, work with network providers, PC hardware personnel and communications equipment vendors to resolve network problems or requests.
  • Experience with Cisco router, switches, and Fortinet firewall

Preferred:

  • Applied knowledge of TCP/IP, IPsec, VRRP, HSRP, or SNMP protocols
  • Applied knowledge of Cisco Catalysts switches

 

Network Engineer III

 

Position Summary: Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs operating systems and software configuration of all network infrastructure devices to include routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, intrusion prevention systems, and network management platforms.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that network connections are online and active utilizing network management tools and processes and plays a key role in maintaining the network management platforms.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves data network communications problems utilizing accurate techniques and accurately documents all changes and incidents in the Incident Management and Change Management Systems.
  • Maintains correct and accurate documentation of existing and future network infrastructure utilizing accurate tools and systems and performs network management tasks for proper scanning and documentation of the environment.
  • Assists the network architect and network manager in the design and implementation of network projects and infrastructure to include MPLS, QOS, IPS, Firewall, and security parameters.
  • May coordinate work and performance of sub-contractors to ensure compliance with work orders and performs mentoring of Network Engineer I and II.
  • Performs network maintenance and security related tasks such as coordinating cable contractors, upgrading IOS, NXOS, implementing security related policies, patches, firewall, VPN appliances, and other systems.
  • Leadership Skills, Strong analytical skills, coupled with a sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems to include routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, intrusion prevention systems, and network management platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of network protocols, routers, and switches and the ability to utilize sniffers and other diagnostic equipment to resolve issues
  • Advanced knowledge of MPLS networks, quality of service parameters
  • Experience in an equivalent size organization as a network engineer III.
  • Experience with QOS, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
  • Experience with IDS/IPS
  • Experience with IPSEC/SSL VPN
  • Experience with Firewalls
  • Minimum of 5 years of Cisco routing and switching in an Enterprise environment

 Preferred:

  • AS or BS Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent -or- CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent certification  

 

Network Engineer IV

 

Position Summary: Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs operating systems and software configuration of all network infrastructure devices to include routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, intrusion prevention systems, and network management platforms.

  • Experience in an equivalent size organization as a network engineer III or higher
  • Experience with QOS, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
  • Experience with IDS/IPS
  • Experience with IPSEC/SSL VPN
  • Experience with Firewalls
