Mississippi Baptist Health Systems is the non-profit parent company of Baptist Medical Center Leake County, Baptist Medical Center Jackson, as well as other related healthcare facilities. Leake County has been designated by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) as a primary medical care/health professional shortage area. 

 

The NMTC proceeds for this project were used to construct a 25-bed, non-profit owned, critical access hospital in rural Carthage, Mississippi, which was a major investment in the healthcare of the severely distressed rural area of Leake County.

 

This project provided an expanded overnight medical facility and allowed for the retention of 40 highly skilled medical technician jobs.
