Buc-ee’s has a 35+ year history in transforming itself from a small convenience store located in Lake Jackson, Texas to mega/convenience/travel center stores throughout the central and gulf coast region of Texas.
NMTC proceeds were used to build Buc-ee’s first location outside of Texas in rural Alabama. The project consisted of a new 53,000 square foot travel center located on 15.8 acres on the southwest corner of the Baldwin Beach Expressway & I-10 in Baldwin County, Alabama. The nearest towns are Loxley and Robertsdale.
Buc-ees’s takes great pride in its roughly 3,000 employees, providing extensive training and career advancement opportunities. Historically, Buc-ee’s employment census has been over 50% minority. The new Alabama location hired over 200 permanent employees from the surrounding low-income community to become part of the Buc-ee’s family.
