Vowell’s Marketplace is a Louisville, Mississippi based supermarket chain with 13 locations across Mississippi and Alabama.

 

Vowell’s built a new 45,000 square-foot facility in Natchez, Mississippi with its NMTC proceeds. The project included the rehabilitation of a vacant structure, which is now occupied by Vowell’s Cash Saver Grocery and Dirt Cheap. Cash Saver is a full-service grocery offering an assortment of meat, poultry, seafood, fruits, and vegetables, as well as a deli/bakery department that serves fresh meals daily.

 

Project Impact

  • Significantly enhanced local access to healthy foods in a food desert
  • Created approximately 75 new jobs
  • Re-purposed a vacant structure and served as a catalyst for the development of a shopping center that is occupied by various retailers
