Online and Mobile Banking Safety: Fraud Prevention

Fraud is a major issue for consumers who utilize online tools in their everyday lives. The Federal Trade Commission received 2.8 million reports of fraudulent transactions from consumers in 2021, representing a loss of $5.8 billion.

At Trustmark, we believe the privacy and security of our customers’ information is of utmost importance. That’s why we utilize enhanced security features to protect your information and provide you with a secure, dependable online and mobile banking experience with myTrustmark®. Security features, such as Face ID, Touch ID and fingerprint login, two-factor authentication and transaction alerts help keep your information safe.

You can also take further precautions to ensure the safety of your accounts and prevent being a victim of fraudulent activity:

  • Do not open email attachments or click on links from unsolicited sources.
  • Avoid giving out personal information on the phone or through email.
  • Shred unneeded sensitive documents, like receipts, checks, deposit slips, pre-approved credit card offers and expired debit and credit cards.
  • Review your transactions daily within myTrustmark or monthly on your account statements and notify us as soon as possible if you detect anything unusual.

Additionally, when you are online, whether on your computer or phone, make sure your antivirus software is up-to-date and that you are using secure wireless networks (Wi-Fi) that require a login ID and password.

When conducting financial transactions, be certain to only use a valid, trusted website, such as trustmark.com or an online banking platform like myTrustmark, which allows you to safely and securely access your account information.
